How Long Does

Chicken Salad Last?

How long does chicken salad last and how do you store it, whether you're preparing it for a large gathering or just to keep on hand at home?

This article discusses ambient temperatures as well as in the fridge and freezer, and what to watch for when chicken salad starts to spoil!

What factors can affect Chicken Salad?

-  Homemade vs.             Storebought -  Fresh ingredients -  Moisture -  Proper Preparation

It’s best to not leave the chicken salad out for a long time, as any leftover salad can go off pretty quickly. I aim to have mine either eaten or stored in the fridge within an hour of taking it out, however, up to two hours will be okay.

What about Room Temp?

The lid should be sealed to not only stop it from spilling but to keep any extra bacteria out. Avoid covering it with aluminum foil as it doesn’t seal it as well. If the chicken salad is being stored in an airtight container in the fridge from the beginning, it should last for 3-4 days.

How long does it last in the fridge?

This 15-minute recipe is simple, addictive, and can be served as a side dish or a main. It’s also paleo, keto, Whole30, and gluten & dairy free!

My Chicken Salad Recipe!

All you need is:

shredded chicken, mayo, grapes, spring onions, lemon juice, oregano, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper!

Mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl, then add extra salt, pepper and mayo to taste. Throw on a bit of parsley if you want. That's it!

I like popping it on top of sweet potatoes, but it’s also excellent on a bed of salad leaves, or on its own as a side dish. Share it with friends at your next gathering!
